Fixed speed cameras near you, département by département

Pick a département: the number of cameras of each type, then the map and list of each one, with the speed from which it costs points.

The French Interior Ministry publishes on data.gouv.fr the list of fixed automatic speed cameras, with their type, installation date, the speed they check and their coordinates. The file read here, dated 30 December 2025, lists 3,309. We have attached each one to its town and département: Oise (128), Nord (97), Yvelines (88), Bouches-du-Rhône (76) are the best-equipped départements; Lozère (7), Guyane (8), Corse-du-Sud (9) the least, with Mayotte having none. Tower cameras, mounted on a pole and able to check several lanes in both directions, are now the most common (1,492). For every camera whose limit is published, the tool gives the measured speed from which a point is lost, then that of the 50 km/h-over criminal offence. The file does not include mobile units, camera cars or roadworks cameras moved as works progress.

Interior Ministry file of 30 December 2025: 3,309 fixed cameras in France. Mobile units and camera cars are not listed.

How the amount is calculated

Every camera in Bouches-du-Rhône and the speed that costs points

Speeds as measured by the camera, with the 5 km/h margin deducted (5% above 100 km/h). “—”: limit not published in the file (red light, level crossing, some tower cameras).

What the file contains

Each row describes one camera: its number, type, installation date, the maximum speed checked (VMA) and its position. The speed is missing for red-light and level-crossing cameras, which do not measure speed, and for some tower cameras. Of the 2,631 cameras with a published limit, 952 check 80 km/h, 659 check 90, 494 check 50 and 448 check 70; 130 km/h motorways have only 16. The dataset is on data.gouv.fr.

Reading the “1st point from” column

A fixed camera records your speed after a margin of 5 km/h, or 5% above 100 km/h. The first point goes when the recorded excess reaches 5 km/h. On an 80 km/h camera you must therefore have been measured at 90 km/h; on a 130 camera, at 143 km/h. The “offence from” column applies the same rule to the 50 km/h recorded-excess threshold. Details are on the camera margin of error page.

Frequently asked questions

Are mobile cameras and camera cars on the map?

No. The ministry’s public file only lists fixed equipment: standard, tower, discriminating, average-speed, red-light, level-crossing and urban cameras. Unmarked cars with an on-board camera, police speed guns and roadworks cameras are not published, and their position changes every day, so no list of them can be complete.

Can a camera in the file be switched off?

Yes. The file is updated roughly once a year, and a camera can be vandalised, under maintenance or moved between two versions. The file date is shown above the tool. A listed camera is best treated as active: driving at the limit is the only reliable protection.

Is it legal to look up camera locations in France?

Yes: the list is published by the government itself, under an open licence. What is banned is using, while driving, a detector that picks up cameras from their emissions. Driving apps signal danger zones rather than exact enforcement points. This site gives no real-time alerts.

Why are there so many cameras in the Oise?

The file gives no reasons. One can only note that the Oise, with 128 fixed cameras, is crossed by major routes into Paris and the north, and that 109 of its cameras are tower units, mostly installed since 2018. Sites are chosen by the State from accident records.
